Sláinte Sea Moss Named a Finalist in the Mayo Business Awards 2026
We’re absolutely delighted to share that Sláinte Sea Moss has been named a finalist in the Excellence in Sustainability Award, sponsored by Leeson Enterprise Centre, at the Mayo Business Awards 2026.
It’s a lovely milestone for our business, and one that means a great deal because sustainability is something we think about in the everyday decisions we make, not just something we talk about.
Building a business with purpose
When we started Sláinte, our aim was to create skincare that genuinely nourishes the skin, helps people feel confident and supports skin through its different phases.
Irish sea moss was a natural choice for us. We wanted to work with an ingredient that had a strong connection to Ireland and build a skincare range that made thoughtful use of this natural resource.
As the business has grown, so has our understanding of the responsibility that comes with creating products and bringing them to market.
Making thoughtful choices, from sea to skin
Our Irish seaweed is wild hand-harvested along the coastline from Sligo to Donegal, during the harvesting season from May to September. It is carefully rinsed, cleaned and sorted before being slowly dried at low temperatures.
We also look at how we can make the most of the material we work with, including finding uses for the seaweed remaining after extraction.
Our approach carries through to how we produce and package our products. We make in small batches, helping us manage stock and reduce unnecessary waste. We use Miron glass jars, recyclable labels and shipping boxes, and we avoid adding individual product boxes to stockist orders where they aren't needed.
None of these decisions on their own tells the whole story. Together, they reflect the way we want to build Sláinte: thoughtfully, responsibly and with an appreciation for the resources we use.
Growing from Foxford, Mayo
We’re incredibly proud to be building Sláinte from Foxford, Co. Mayo, in the west of Ireland.
Being a small business means we are continually learning, adapting and looking at where we can do things better. We don't have every answer, and we certainly don't see sustainability as something you achieve once and then tick off a list. It's an ongoing part of how we make decisions and how we want the business to grow.
One idea that continues to guide us is finding ways to grow the value of what we already have rather than simply consuming more.
A recognition worth celebrating
Being named a finalist alongside other businesses is something we're genuinely proud of. It gives us an opportunity to share more about the thinking and work that goes on behind Sláinte, much of which happens quietly in the day-to-day running of a small business.
A big thank you to the Mayo Business Awards, Leeson Enterprise Centre and everyone who has supported us along the way.
And, of course, congratulations to our fellow finalists.
We're proud of how far Sláinte has come, grateful for the recognition and looking forward to what comes next.
From our corner of Foxford, Mayo — thank you for being part of the journey.
